Richard Lane

Richard Lane's interest in American Nautical History has inspired his outstanding original works. Using museum ship models, old photographs from museum archives and actual blue prints of the boats themselves, Lane creates powerful portraits of past America's Cup races and the schooners of New England. His rich palette of colors, along with an acute attention to detail, brings an eloquent presence to any environment.

Richard began to develop an interest in Marine Art and History at a very young age, spending summers in Massachusetts. He studied fine art and illustration, specializing in murals and oil painting. He now devotes his painting fully to maritime art.

Richard is a member of the Ship Model Society and is also an avid sailor. His work is found in private collections throughout the United States.
