Julia O'Malley Keyes
Julia O’Malley-Keyes resides in Falmouth, Massachusetts, where she lives and paints in her studio. Her affinity for the ocean is reflected in her luminous coastal landscapes, seascapes, and paintings of classic yachts including the “Big J’s”, Endeavour, Endeavour II, Shamrock V, Velsheda, and Ranger. In the historically dominated field of Marine Art, she is recognized as the premiere female marine artist in the United States. Ms. O’Malley-Keyes has continued her studies of traditional painting techniques and travels yearly on extensive sojourns to perfect her skills.
Her work is collected by private devotees and corporations alike. She has also painted commissioned works of landscapes, private yachts and portraits for a wide variety of luminaries, including news anchor Charles Gibson and Don Graham, past publisher of the Washington Post. Most notable among her portraits, at least for fans of music, is the portrait of pianist Harry Connick, Jr. Her commissioned portrait of the late John “Buck” O’Neil now hangs in the Negro Leagues Baseball Museum in Kansas City. She has also been commissioned by and her works are in permanent collections at The Royal Perth Yacht Club home to the Americas Cup following the historic victory of Australia II and the New Zealand National Maritime Museum Auckland, New Zealand, one of the finest maritime museums in the world.
O’Malley-Keyes has been voted as one of the 400 most influential people on Cape Cod by numerous independent surveys conducted by Cape Cod Life Publications. Painting is her first love, but her involvement in 17 local and national charities is one of her deepest attachments. She says, “Life is about balance, you get from it, what you give to it”
