Ernee Way
Ernee Way describes herself as a contemporary impressionist whose love of light, color and movement is at the heart of all of her work. A native of Savannah, Georgia, she feels completely in tune with the coastal beauty of New England. Marshes, dunes and inland rivers are frequently the subjects of her paintings. She states, “A painting filled with sunshine gladdens the spirit, for sunshine is the laughter of nature.” A painter with over 30 years of art experience, Ernee began training at the age of nine in private instruction. She studied art at the University of Georgia, the Montserrat School of Visual Art and enjoyed six years of training with Copley Master Scott Jackson.
Ernee’s paintings have been shown at the Salmagundi Club, New York; the Catharine Lorillard Wolfe Art Club New York; the Hudson Valley Art Association, White Plains, New York; in Boston throughout the Copley Society; and throughout the North Shore in one artist shows and in exhibitions winning many awards for her talent. Recent awards were the Aldro T Hibbard Memorial Award at the North Shore Arts Association, Gloucester, MA and the Sam Sargent Award for General Excellence at the Newburyport Art Association in Newburyport, MA.
